Questions & Answers II

1. Open Day vs. Global Assessment Day

The Open Days are information sessions that give an opportunity to the candidates to meet with the airline's recruitment team. You will need to present your CV and photos - passport size and full-length in business attire. Some airlines require that you also provide a copy of your passport. Anybody can join an Open Day without prior registration. You will be watching information videos about the airline and their base city and you will be given the chance to ask questions about the airline and the cabin crew job. The resumes will be screened by the recruiters and successful candidates will be asked to participate in a series of tests and interviews. You do not require previous cabin crew experience to be part of an Open Day.In order to be invited to participate in a Global Assessment Day, you will need to complete an online registration on the airline's recruitment website. Your CV will be screened based on your experience and education. If successful, you will be given the details of the Assessment Day. You do not require previous cabin crew experience to be invited to participate in a Global Assessment Day.

2. How to build your CV for the cabin crew Open Day

When attending a Cabin Crew Open Day, you should bring along your CV. The CV should ONLY include information about your education and experience, skills and your contact information. The pictures should be brought separately and printed on a photo-quality paper. You will need a full-length picture in business attire. The standard size of this photograph is 4x6 (10x15cm). Also have some passport photos in the same business attire. Your work experience should be presented chronologically, starting with your latest job. When your experience includes only part-time jobs, its important to present it in your advantage. For the cabin crew application, your resume should not have more than 1 page. Simplify and delete all that is not necessary.

3. How long you should wait between Open Days?

You should wait 6 months between your presence at Open Days. If you made it to the Final Interview and you were rejected, then the waiting period is 12 months. The reason for this is that you should use the 6 months to work on the skills that are required for the cabin crew position that you probably did not show during the assessment day. There will be a question at the beginning of the assessment day if and when did you participate in open days.

4. Layovers duration

You will be given a balanced monthly roster that includes all types of flights: short, medium and long haul. You will not fly only short haul in a month and long haul in the next. The layovers largely depend on the destination and the flight frequency. As a general rule, if a flight (single sector) is longer than 5 hours, you will have a layover at the destination. The layovers can range from 12 hours to 72 hours and sometimes even longer. You will be provided some of the best hotels in the city and you will have your own room.

5. Flight requests

Every month you have the opportunity to register a bid for the next month's roster. This can be a flight, specific days off or a buddy bid (flying with a specific crew member). For a flight with a high frequency - for example London, with a frequency of 7 flights per day, you should have no problems getting your request granted. If you bid for a flight that has a high bid demand from other crew members (a destination that is served only couple of times per week = longer layovers = many crew members will want to operate this flight), your request might not be granted from the first time and you will have to repeat your bid. The system is set to take into account your seniority (more senior crew members will have priority over the new joiners), languages spoken, your specific trainings, crew diversity and many other aspects. Your chances of success are higher if you are the language speaker for the particular sector - a French speaking cabin crew will have higher chances to be sent to destinations in France or French speaking countries during the month.
