40 days left!

Tomorrow it will be 40 days left until boarding... I will move to Dubai and I will attend very intensive and hard training during Feb and March, and after finishing I am officially becoming a cabin crew. I am so excited but also nervous and thinking what the hell am I doing :-) Leaving my friends and family... But I´m tired of this place, I always wanted to move far away from the city I live in. In the end I will see who is fake and who is the real one that stays beside me, no matter what happens :-)

I want to be well-prepared for my Dubai adventure. I´m trying to get all my documents organised, trying to arrange everything before I leave... But the biggest challenge is definitely how to get my life moved to Dubai when I am allowed to take only 50 kg + 7 kg of hand luggage with me???!!! Even my summer shoes and handbags weigh more than 50 kg! Well, it´s gonna be very difficult...

50 days left!

In 50 days I will be living in a different city, in a different country, in a different continent. I cant believe it. 6000 km far away...

I´m so excited and I´m looking forward to meeting new friends there, but I´m also quite nervous about Dubai, about training, I´m thinking about living there, I´m worried about exams so much, about studying in English as well... I want everything goes well because I don´t want to go back home!! :-)

My medicals are almost done. On 27th Dec I´ll get my last vaccination (yellow fever) and today I am going to pick up translated copies of my birth certificate and academic certificate.

See you there! :-)

The Golden Call & Medicals

I recieved my GC from Emirates on Tuesday, 20th of November at 9:10 am. My online status changed to "You will be contacted by your Recruitment coordinator at the earliest" two days before, so I hope Emirates would call me. I was checking my phone 1000 times a day :-) My date of joining is 1st of February 2013. I cant wait!!

Since then I have been waiting for my Portal to open and I could start with all medicals. I started immediately. Going to the dentist for a check-up and dental x-ray etc. I completed all my medicals in one week, I uploaded documents onto the Portal and after one week I recieved Final Approval.

There were also a lot of vaccinations which needs to be completed:

  • polio
  • diphtheria
  • tetanus
  • typhoid
  • hepatitis A
  • hepatitis B
  • MMR
  • yellow  fever
  • menningococcal ACWY
  • varicella

Final Interview

The Final Interview. My last chance to prove them I am the best person for this job and they should hire me! My final interview was on Monday 8th October. We got a lot of paperwork to complete to bring with to the interview and we also had to complete an online psychometric test (about 170 questions).

The interview was meant to last about 45 - 60 minutes but mine was only 30 minutes. The recruiter asked me questions about my previous and current work experience. I was glad it was over! They told me they will contact us in 3 - 6 weeks. Actually it was 6 long weeks and 1 day :-)

Open & Assesment Days

The Open Day was held on 6 Oct 2012 in Prague. There were about 150 people at the open day. After presentation about being cabin crew and life in Dubai the recruiters (two women - Miroslava and Andrea, both  from Czech)  invited us to come one by one with our CV, do the reach test (212 cm without shoes) and answer a quick question - why do you want to be a cabin crew. We have about one minute to make an impression.

In the afternoon I recieved a phone call inviting me to an assesment day the next day. From 150 candidates that day we were cut to no more than 50 applicants. We were divided into groups of 12. The main role of the assesment day was to see how well we can work in a group. These group activities was nothing to worry about, just stay confident, friendly and always smile. During these activities we were asked by recruiters one by one about tattoos, scars etc. and a few questions about yourself. After this we were sent out and we had to wait to see if we got through to the next stage of the assesment day. I was so happy when I opened that small piece of paper and saw that I made it!

The next stage was an English test. It consists of reading, understanding phrases and an essay, about an hour long. Than we were sent out again to wait for results. I passed! The third stage was team work again. We were given a scenario and we had to decide what we would do in that situation. The recruiters checked everyone, observed situation and made notes. They do not like when someone talk too much. These people were eliminated.

We were cut to no more than 20 applicants. We were invited to final interview the next day. So here I was. It was a personal achievement for me, my family and friends were sooo proud of me :-)))

How it all started
